How to download your Bank of Ireland statement
Bank of Ireland is one of the more cooperative Irish banks when it comes to letting you have your own data. CSV is supported, downloads are quick, and the date pickers actually work. Here's the path of least resistance.
On 365online (desktop)
- Go to bankofireland.com and click Login.
- Enter your six-digit User ID, your date of birth, and the requested digits of your contact number.
- From the dashboard, click your current account.
- Above the transaction list, look for Statements & Documents or Transaction Search.
- Pick a date range. BOI lets you go back roughly seven years online.
- Click Download and choose CSV. (PDF is also offered if you prefer a tidy printable copy.)
On the Bank of Ireland app
- Open the app and log in with your PIN or biometrics.
- Tap your account.
- Tap the menu icon and choose Statements.
- Pick a statement period and tap Download or Share.
- The mobile app is PDF-first. For CSV, go to 365online on your laptop.
What a BOI CSV contains
Once you open it in a spreadsheet, you'll see roughly:
- Date
- Details — the merchant or transfer description
- Debit — money out
- Credit — money in
- Balance
- Transaction Type — DD, POS, ATM and so on
BOI credit card statements
Credit card statements are a separate flow. From the dashboard, click your Credit Card account, then Statements. CSV is not always available for credit cards — you may only get PDF. That's fine, most analysers (Skint included) read credit card PDFs straightforwardly.
Common problems
"The CSV opens with everything in one column"
That's a regional setting issue in Excel — Excel sometimes guesses the wrong delimiter. In Excel, use Data → Text to Columns → Delimited → Comma. Or just open it in Google Sheets, which handles it correctly automatically.
"Some old transactions are missing"
365online holds about seven years. If you need older, you can request paper statements via secure messaging — there's usually a fee.
